I love cooking food for my family but unfortunately I do not always have the time to make it all freshly. Apple puree was one of those things I sometimes used to buy when a working day was too long again. Now with C I look more and more on the ingredients list and again I was shocked how much added sugars are sometimes in there. I totally do not understand why everywhere it needs to be added. So I came back to making the puree on my own as it is so easy to do and tastes much better than the bought one.
What you need
First of all you have to peel and core the apples and chop them. Add now some water so that the fruits are just not covered and bring the mix to boil for about 10-15 minutes depending on the thickness of the slices. Add more water or leave it boiling without a lid if you think it is too much water. In the end you simply need to blend it.
If you want to keep it for longer you can preserve it if you take empty jam glasses, wash them out with hot water, fill it up to 3/4 with apple puree, close them and cool them upside down. That way you can keep if for months and have always some puree to have with pancakes, waffles or other great food.
